Marinade

Salmon

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, and black pepper until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate Salmon

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours.

Cooking Salmon

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or the skillet.

  2. 4

    Cook the Salmon

Remove the salmon from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Place the fillets on the grill or skillet skin-side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  3. 5

    Garnish

Remove the salmon from the grill/skillet and garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Cooking Vegetable Sides

  1. 6

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet (or a separate one), add a drizzle of sesame oil. Add the sliced zucchini, mushrooms, bell pepper, and julienned carrots. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
