Steak

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Sprinkle salt and black pepper generously on both sides of the steaks, pressing the seasoning into the meat.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the seasoned steaks to the hot skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a golden-brown crust forms.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steaks over and add the butter, garlic cloves, and rosemary to the pan.

  4. 6

    Baste the Steak

As the butter melts, tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steaks. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare doneness, adjusting time for your preferred doneness.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the pan and transfer them to a cutting board. Cover loosely with foil and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
