Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground prime Angus beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them over. After flipping, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare Buns

While the burgers are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. If desired, toast the buns on the grill or in the skillet for added flavor.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place a cooked burger patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, slices of tomato, rings of red onion, and a handful of pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
