Method

Classic Benedict Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all ingredients required for the Classic Benedict, including eggs, Canadian bacon, English muffins, and fresh fruit.

  2. 2

    Cook the Canadian Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, add the Canadian bacon slices and cook until they are warmed through and slightly crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  3. 3

    Toast the English Muffins

While the bacon is cooking, split the English muffins in half and toast them until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Poach the Eggs

Fill a medium saucepan with water and bring it to a gentle simmer. Crack each egg into a small bowl, then gently slide them into the simmering water. Poach the eggs for about 3-4 minutes for a runny yolk or longer if desired. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

On each toasted English muffin half, layer a slice of Canadian bacon and top with a poached egg. Set aside while you prepare the Hollandaise sauce.

  6. 6

    Prepare Fresh Fruit

Wash and cut the fresh fruit into bite-sized pieces. Arrange them on a plate to serve alongside the Benedict.

Hollandaise Sauce Directions

  1. 7

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat until it is completely melted but not boiling. Set aside to cool slightly.

  2. 8

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks and lemon juice together until they become pale and slightly thickened.

  3. 9

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly drizzle the melted butter into the egg yolk mixture while continuously whisking to emulsify. It should become thick and creamy.

  4. 10

    Season the Sauce

Add salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper to taste. Mix well and keep it warm until ready to serve.
