Fried Shrimp or Oysters Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Rinse the wild caught shrimp or oysters under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Coating
In a bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- 3
Soak the Seafood
Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl and dip the shrimp or oysters in the buttermilk, letting any excess drip off before coating them with the flour mixture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Seafood
Carefully add the coated shrimp or oysters to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried shrimp or oysters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
