Muffuletta Ingredients
Method
Muffuletta Preparation
Prepare the Olive Salad
In a medium bowl, combine black olives, green olives, olive oil, red wine vinegar, minced garlic, oregano, and black pepper. Mix well and let the flavors meld for at least 30 minutes.
Slice the Bread
Cut the muffuletta bread in half horizontally. Hollow out some of the inner bread to make room for the fillings.
Layer the Meats and Cheese
On the bottom half of the bread, layer the salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone cheese, and Swiss cheese.
Add the Olive Salad
Spoon the prepared olive salad generously over the meats and cheeses.
Top with the Other Half of the Bread
Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich and press down gently.
Slice and Serve
Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to blend. Slice into wedges and serve.
