Cheddar-Herb Potato Dumplings

Homemade Biscuits

Method

Beef Stew Preparation

  1. 1

    Sear the Beef

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season beef medallions with salt and pepper. Sear beef until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from pot and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same pot, add onions and garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent. Add mushrooms and carrots, cooking for another 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Braise

Return beef to the pot. Pour in hefeweizen and beef broth. Add bay leaves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until beef is tender.

Cheddar-Herb Potato Dumplings

  1. 4

    Prepare Potatoes

Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain, mash, and let cool slightly.

  2. 5

    Mix Dumpling Ingredients

In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, flour, cheddar cheese, herbs, egg, and salt until combined. Form into small dumplings.

  3. 6

    Cook Dumplings

Drop dumplings into boiling salted water. Cook until they float, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Homemade Biscuits

  1. 7

    Make Biscuit Dough

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Stir in milk until just combined.

  2. 8

    Shape and Bake Biscuits

Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll out to about 1 inch thick. Cut out biscuits and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
