Prepare the Fish Batter
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and beer until smooth. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.

Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips. Rinse under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

Prepare the Coleslaw
Shred the cabbage and grate the carrot. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, and salt. Add the shredded vegetables and toss until well coated.

Fry the Potatoes
In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Add the potato strips in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Fry the Fish
Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
