Iced Tea Ingredients

Method

Iced Tea Directions

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot or kettle, bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat. Add 4 black tea bags to the hot water and steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

  3. 3

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, remove the tea bags. While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved. For unsweetened iced tea, skip this step.

  4. 4

    Cool the Tea

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature. You can speed up this process by placing it in the refrigerator.

  5. 5

    Prepare to Serve

Once the tea is cooled, add 4 cups of ice cubes to a large pitcher.

  6. 6

    Combine Tea and Ice

Pour the cooled tea over the ice in the pitcher, allowing it to chill even further.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the iced tea in glasses over additional ice, if desired. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves to taste.
