Focaccia Ingredients
Method
Focaccia Directions
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
Mix Ingredients
Add flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Focaccia
Once risen, punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Stretch it out to fit the sheet.
Second Rise
Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Add Toppings
Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the dough, sprinkle with fresh rosemary and coarse sea salt. Use your fingers to create dimples in the dough.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
