Method

Preparation Steps

1

Prepare the Tofu

Press the tofu for about 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Once pressed, slice the tofu into 1/2-inch thick slabs.

2

Grill the Tofu

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Brush the tofu slabs with BBQ sauce and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side until heated through and marked by grill lines.

3

Make the Asian Slaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped green onion. In a separate small bowl, whisk together sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey (or agave), and salt. Pour the dressing over the slaw and toss to combine.

4

Assemble the Sandwich

Spread a little BBQ sauce on each slice of whole grain bread. Layer the grilled tofu, Asian slaw, sliced cucumber, and alfalfa sprouts. Top with another slice of bread.

5

Serve

Cut the sandwich in half and serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
