Peel and Chop Taro
Peel the taro root and chop it into small pieces to ensure even cooking.

Cook Taro
Place the chopped taro in a pot with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat and then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 30 minutes, or until the taro is tender.

Drain and Cool
Once cooked, drain the taro and let it cool slightly until it can be handled.

Pound the Taro
Using a mortar and pestle, or a food processor, pound the taro until it reaches a smooth consistency. Add salt to taste.

Poi is best served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy it with your favorite dishes!
