Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation

Take the filet of tenderloin steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Seasoning the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan over medium-high heat until hot.

  4. 4

    Cooking the Steak

Add the seasoned steak to the hot pan. For a 6-ounce steak, cook for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. For 8-ounce, cook 4-5 minutes, and for 10-ounce, cook 5-6 minutes per side, adjusting time based on desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Adding Flavor

During the last minute of cooking, add butter and a sprig of fresh rosemary or thyme to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steak for added flavor.

  6. 6

    Resting

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.

  7. 7

    Serving

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately.
