Begin by toasting the slices of marble rye bread until they are golden brown and crispy. You can use a toaster or a skillet on medium heat.

Assemble the Sandwich
Spread the Russian dressing evenly on one side of each slice of toasted marble rye.

Add Pastrami
Layer the pastrami evenly over one slice of the bread on top of the Russian dressing.

Add Gruyere
Place the slices of Gruyere cheese on top of the pastrami.

Add Cornichons
Place the cornichons on top of the cheese or on the side, depending on your preference.

Place the second slice of bread on top, dressing side down, to complete the sandwich.
