Method
Bread Pudding Directions
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large bowl.
Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined. Stir in the brown butter and Uncle Nearest Bourbon.
Combine Bread and Mixture
Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes to absorb the liquid.
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
Cool and Serve
Once baked, let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving it warm. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Caramel Sauce Directions
Make the Caramel
In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Cook the Sugar
Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it turns a deep amber color, about 8-10 minutes.
Add Cream and Butter
Remove from heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream and unsalted butter until smooth. Be cautious, as the mixture may bubble up.
Finish the Sauce
Stir in sea salt and let the sauce cool slightly before serving. It will thicken as it cools.
