Wild Rice Base

Sweeteners and Flavorings

Method

Cooking the Wild Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse the hand-parched wild rice under cold water using a fine mesh strainer to remove any debris.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium-sized pot, combine the rinsed wild rice, heavy cream, and water.

  3. 3

    Cook the Rice

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 45-50 minutes or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.

Adding Flavors and Toppings

  1. 4

    Sweeten the Porridge

Once the wild rice is cooked, stir in the pure maple syrup and mix well.

  2. 5

    Incorporate Fruits and Nuts

Add the dried blueberries, sweetened cranberries, and chopped roasted hazelnuts to the rice porridge. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Hot

Ladle the warm porridge into bowls and serve immediately, garnishing with additional hazelnuts or a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
