Method

Veggie Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook Wild Rice

In a pot, combine 1 cup of wild rice with 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 45-50 minutes, or until the rice is tender.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Patty Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked wild rice, black beans, grated carrot, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

  3. 3

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook each patty for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and heated through.

Topping and Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the Muenster cheese, avocado, and prepare the pickled onion and arugula.

  2. 6

    Make Dijon Aioli

In a small bowl, mix Dijon mustard and mayonnaise together to create the Dijon aioli.

  3. 7

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the country white buns if desired. Place each patty on the bottom half of the bun, top with a slice of Muenster cheese, avocado slices, pickled onion, and a handful of arugula. Spread the Dijon aioli on the top half of the bun and place it on top to complete the burger.
