Bread Base

Method

Prepare Bread Base

  1. 1

    Cube the Bread

Cut the cubed bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Toast the Bread

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Spread the cubed bread on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until slightly crispy. Remove from oven and let cool.

Sauté Aromatics

  1. 3

    Sauté the Onion and Celery

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic and Sage

Stir in the minced garlic and chopped sage leaves, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients

  1. 5

    Mix Ingredients

In the mixing bowl with the cubed bread, add the sautéed aromatics. Pour in the vegetable broth, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt. Gently fold everything together until the bread is evenly coated.

  2. 6

    Add Optional Extras

If using, fold in the dried cranberries and chopped walnuts for added texture and flavor.

Bake Stuffing

  1. 7

    Prepare Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with a little olive oil.

  2. 8

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Transfer the stuffing mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

  3. 9

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
