Method

Cake Batter Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with mini cupcake liners.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp of baking powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter & Sugar

In a separate mixing bowl, cream together 0.5 cups of softened unsalted butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs & Vanilla

Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, and add 1 tsp of vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine with Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with 0.5 cups of milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fill the Mini Cones

Using a piping bag or spoon, fill each mini cone with the cake batter about 2/3 full. Place the cones in the cupcake pan.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Remove from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 9

    Beat Butter

In a mixing bowl, beat 0.5 cups of softened unsalted butter until creamy.

  2. 10

    Add Sugar & Flavor

Gradually add in 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, mixing on low speed until combined.

  3. 11

    Adjust Consistency

Add 2 tbs of milk to achieve desired consistency. If using, add food coloring at this stage and mix to incorporate.

  4. 12

    Frost the Cakes

Once the mini cakes are completely cool, frost each cone generously with the prepared frosting using a spatula or piping bag.

Decoration

  1. 13

    Add Sprinkles

Sprinkle your choice of sprinkles on top of the frosted cones to add color and fun.
