Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. It will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Cream Butter

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy and smooth.

  2. 8

    Add Cocoa and Sugar

Gradually add cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with milk. Beat until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.

  3. 9

    Add Vanilla and Salt

Stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt, mixing until fully incorporated.

  4. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

Garnishing

  1. 11

    Add Sea Salt

Sprinkle the sea salt flakes generously over the frosted cake for a delightful contrast.
