Muffin Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, mix together sour cream, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted unsalted butter until smooth.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Fold in chopped walnuts.

Mix Filling
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and 0.5 cup of chopped walnuts until evenly combined.
Muffin Assembly

Fill Muffin Cups
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of muffin batter into each muffin cup. Then add about 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon filling mixture on top.

Top with Batter
Top the filling with another tablespoon of muffin batter, ensuring the filling is covered.
Baking

Bake Muffins
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the tin for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting Preparation

Mix Frosting
In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and fluffy.

Once the muffins are completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the tops.
