Salmon Fillets

Cooking Oil

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Blackening Seasoning

In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure a good sear. Sprinkle the blackening seasoning generously over both sides of each fillet, pressing lightly to adhere the spices.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering but not smoking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Salmon

Carefully place the seasoned salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes without moving them, allowing a crust to form. Flip the fillets and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  3. 5

    Serve

Remove the salmon from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before serving. Enjoy your blackened salmon as a main protein dish or alongside your favorite sides.
