Turkey

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Remove the turkey from the refrigerator and take out the giblets from the cavity.

  2. 2

    Season the Turkey

Pat the turkey dry with paper towels. Rub olive oil all over the turkey, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place the fresh rosemary and thyme inside the cavity along with the lemon, cut in half.

  3. 3

    Butter the Turkey

Melt the butter and brush it over the turkey skin to ensure a golden, crispy exterior.

  4. 4

    Roasting

Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound. Baste the turkey with pan juices every 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Check Temperature

The turkey is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh. Remove from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
