- 1
Soak the Beans
Rinse the dried navy beans under cold water and place them in a large bowl. Cover with water and let soak overnight or for at least 8 hours.

Cook the Beans
Drain and rinse the soaked beans. In a large pot, combine the beans with 6 cups of fresh water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour or until beans are tender. Drain the beans and set aside.

Prepare the Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beans, chopped onion, brown sugar, molasses, mustard powder, salt, pepper, diced bacon, and apple cider vinegar. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

Bake
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Transfer the bean mixture to a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes for a thicker sauce.

Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade baked beans!
