Method

Preparation of Bread

  1. 1

    Toast the Sourdough

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the sourdough slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and set aside.

Meat Preparation

  1. 2

Chiffonade the Prosciutto and Basil Ham

Take the prosciutto and basil ham and slice them into thin strips (chiffonade style). Set aside for assembly.

Cheese Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Cheese

In a bowl, mix the cream cheese until smooth. Grate or slice the mozzarella cheese and set aside separately.

Tomatoes Preparation

  1. 4

    Prep the Cherry Tomatoes

Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half. Set aside for assembly.

Making the Glaze

  1. 5

    Combine Glaze Ingredients

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Toast

On each toasted slice of sourdough, spread a generous amount of cream cheese. Layer the chiffonade prosciutto and basil ham on top, followed by the halved cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese over the tomatoes. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the entire toast and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
