Season the New York strip steak generously with salt and roll it in cracked black pepper until well-coated.

Prepare the Steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted and hot, add the seasoned steak to the pan. Sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness.
