Fried Oyster Ingredients

Method

Fried Oyster Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Coat the Oysters

Dip each oyster first into the egg mixture, then dredge it in the flour-cornmeal mixture until fully coated. Set aside on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Oysters

Carefully place the coated oysters in the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried oysters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
