Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine the carne asada steak with salt, black pepper, cumin, and garlic powder. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavor.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated carne asada steak for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches the desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Then, dice the steak into small pieces.

Assembling the Quesadilla

  1. 3

    Prepare the Tortillas

Lay out two flour tortillas on a clean surface. On each tortilla, evenly distribute half of the diced carne asada steak and half of the Monterey Jack cheese.

  2. 4

    Cook the Quesadilla

Top each with another tortilla. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of oil. Place the quesadillas in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the tortillas are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 5

    Slice and Serve

Remove the quesadillas from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Cut each quesadilla into wedges and serve with sour cream, fresh guacamole, and chopped cilantro. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top for added flavor.
