Method

Meatballs

1

Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, eggs, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

2

Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs approximately 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

3

Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce

4

Sauté the Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

5

Add the Tomatoes

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

6

Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

7

Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Serving

8

Prepare the Toppings and Rolls

While the meatballs are simmering, prepare the toppings by slicing the provolone cheese and grating the Romano cheese.

9

Assemble the Meatball Bar

Set up a serving station with the meatballs in marinara sauce, sliced provolone, grated Romano cheese, and baked rolls for guests to assemble their meatball sandwiches.
