Method

Preparing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Brew Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 4 tablespoons of Thai black tea leaves. Let the tea steep for about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Strain Tea

After steeping, strain the tea leaves using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a heatproof pitcher. Discard the leaves.

Sweetening the Tea

  1. 4

    Add Sugar

While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar until fully dissolved.

  2. 5

    Cool the Tea

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature or refrigerate it to chill.

Serving the Tea

  1. 6

    Prepare Glasses

In a tall glass, add ice cubes to fill it halfway.

  2. 7

    Pour Tea

Pour the cooled tea over the ice cubes until the glass is three-quarters full.

  3. 8

    Add Milks

Top the tea with 2 tablespoons each of condensed milk and evaporated milk. You can stir or leave it layered for presentation.

  4. 9

    Garnish (Optional)

Sprinkle a pinch of ground cardamom on top for added flavor if desired.
