Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 6
Prepare Filling
In a bowl, mix together ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onions, pepper, and sugar until well combined.
Assembling and Steaming
- 7
Shape Buns
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it into a circle.
- 8
Fill Buns
Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center of each circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch to seal the filling inside.
- 9
Prepare for Steaming
Place each sealed bun on a parchment paper square to prevent sticking.
- 10
Steam Buns
Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Place the buns in the steamer basket, cover, and steam for about 15-20 minutes.
