Method
Preparing Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Then, soak the rice in enough water to cover it for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes until it becomes translucent and sticky.
Making Coconut Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir well over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- 4
Mix with Rice
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour about half of the coconut sauce over the rice and mix gently. Allow it to sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preparing Mango Topping
- 5
Slice Mangoes
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin pieces or cubes.
- 6
Garnish
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices on the side, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish.
