Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- 2
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and matcha green tea powder until well combined.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- 5
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 6
Pour Batter into Pan
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- 7
Bake the Cake
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 8
Cool the Cake
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Garnishing and Serving
