Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Allow the steak to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance flavor and tenderness.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until it’s very hot.

  2. 3

    Add Olive Oil

Add the olive oil to the hot skillet and swirl to coat the bottom evenly.

  3. 4

    Cook the Steak

Carefully place the seasoned ribeye steak in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a nice crust.

  4. 5

    Flip the Steak

Flip the steak using tongs and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is achieved. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare.

  5. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the ribeye steak against the grain and serve immediately, optionally with your favorite sides.
