Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filet Mignon

Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the filet mignon dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sear the Steak

Heat the olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the filet mignon to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches desired doneness.

  2. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the filet from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Dish

Slice the filet mignon against the grain and arrange it on a plate. Drizzle with demi-glace before serving.
