Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Measure Coffee

Measure 2 cups of dark roast coffee beans using a kitchen scale for precision.

  2. 2

    Grind Coffee Beans

Grind the coffee beans to a fine consistency, similar to table salt. This is crucial for making a proper espresso.

  3. 3

    Boil Water

In a kettle, bring 4 cups of filtered water to a boil. Allow it to cool for about 30 seconds after boiling to reach the ideal temperature for brewing espresso.

Brewing

  1. 4

    Prepare Espresso Machine

Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 5

    Add Coffee to Portafilter

Place the ground coffee into the portafilter basket and tamp it down firmly and evenly to create a smooth surface.

  3. 6

    Brew Espresso

Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine and start the brewing process. Brew for about 25-30 seconds to extract a full-bodied espresso shot.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Espresso

Pour the brewed espresso into a small cup. Enjoy it as is or with a splash of milk or sweetener if desired.
