Preparation Steps
- 1
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- 3
Mix Eggs and Sugar
In a separate bowl, whisk together the large eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract and salt, and gently fold together until combined.
- 5
Add Flour
Sift in the all-purpose flour and fold gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling each about ¾ full.
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Allow the cakes to cool for 1 minute before inverting them onto plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.
