Meat Mixture

Method

Meat Mixture

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef and ground lamb. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the diced onion, minced garlic, diced carrots, and diced celery to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 3

    Combine Other Ingredients

Stir in the frozen peas, corn, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Prepare Filling

Once cooked, remove from heat and transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 5

    Boil Potatoes

In a large pot, add the peeled and cubed potatoes. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.

  2. 6

    Mash Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  3. 7

    Add Cheese

Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 8

    Assemble the Pie

Spread the creamy mashed potatoes over the meat mixture in the baking dish, smoothing it out with a spatula.

  2. 9

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

  3. 10

    Serve

Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious Shepherd's Pie!
