Preparation
Prepare the Matcha
In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to remove any lumps. Add about 2 tablespoons of hot (not boiling) water and whisk it vigorously with a bamboo whisk or a small whisk until a smooth paste forms. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
Muddle the Basil
In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh basil leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the basil to release its aromatic oils. Be careful not to shred the leaves too much.
Mixing
Combine Ingredients
To the muddled basil, add the prepared matcha paste, White Myers Rum, fresh lime juice, and coconut water into the cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice.
Shake
Secure the top of the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is well combined and chilled.
Serving
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with ice. Optionally, garnish with a few additional basil leaves or a lime wedge for presentation.
