Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the sharp cheddar cheese, cream cheese, diced jalapenos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Assemble the Wontons

  1. 2

    Prepare Wonton Wrappers

Take one wonton wrapper and place it on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center of the wrapper.

  2. 3

    Seal the Wontons

Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper over to create a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets. Optional: You can also fold the two corners of the triangle up to meet at the top point to create a different shape.

  3. 4

    Repeat

Repeat the process with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling until all are filled and sealed.

Fry the Wontons

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Wontons

Carefully add a few wontons at a time to the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

  3. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Remove the cooked wontons and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Serve the jalapeno popper wontons hot with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
