Garlic Butter Topping

Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough forms and knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Form the Knots

  1. 5

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope (about 6 inches) and tie it into a knot.

  2. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Prepare the Garlic Butter

  1. 7

    Melt the Butter

In a saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add minced garlic, salt, and chopped parsley. Stir until fragrant.

Bake the Knots

  1. 8

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 9

    Brush with Garlic Butter

Once the knots have risen, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture.

  3. 10

    Sprinkle the Toppings

Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning over the top of the knots.

  4. 11

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve

  1. 12

    Cool and Serve

Remove the garlic knots from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve warm as a delightful appetizer or side dish.
