Wash the fresh basil leaves thoroughly under running water. Peel the garlic cloves and set aside. Measure out the pine nuts, olive oil, and grated Parmesan cheese.

Blend the Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, garlic cloves, toasted pine nuts, and Parmesan cheese. Pulse until the mixture is coarsely chopped.

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Blend again briefly to mix the seasoning into the pesto.
