Method

Marinade Preparation

1

Prepare the Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, chili powder, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well.

2

Marinate the Chicken

Add the boneless chicken thighs to the marinade and ensure they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Cooking the Butter Chicken

3

Sauté the Onions

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

4

Cook the Marinated Chicken

Add the marinated chicken to the skillet with the onions. Cook until the chicken is browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.

5

Add the Tomato Puree

Pour in the tomato puree and stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

6

Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce thickens slightly.

7

Finish with Cream

Stir in the heavy cream and sugar. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

8

Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve hot with rice or naan.
