Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Smoker

Preheat your smoker to a temperature of 225°F (107°C). Use your favorite wood chips for smoking, such as hickory or applewood.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the baby back ribs. This ensures that the seasoning penetrates the meat better.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

In a bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar. Rub this mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.

  4. 4

    Smoke the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs in the smoker, bone side down, and smoke for 4-5 hours, until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce.

  2. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Finishing the Ribs

  1. 7

    Glaze the Ribs

Once the ribs are tender, brush a generous layer of the BBQ sauce over the ribs during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

  2. 8

    Rest and Serve

Remove the ribs from the smoker and let them rest for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve with remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
