Method
Pulled Pork Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks.
- 2
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Rub this spice mix all over the pork pieces.
- 3
Sauté Aromatics
Chop the onion and mince the garlic. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 4
Cook the Pork
Transfer the sautéed onion and garlic to a slow cooker. Add the seasoned pork, barbecue sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart.
- 5
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, use two forks to shred the pork directly in the slow cooker. Mix it well with the sauce.
Assembling Sliders
- 6
Prepare the Buns
Slice the slider buns in half and lightly toast them if desired.
- 7
Assemble the Sliders
Place a generous amount of pulled pork on the bottom half of each slider bun. If desired, add a spoonful of coleslaw on top.
- 8
Finish and Serve
Place the top half of the slider bun over the pulled pork and serve immediately, while warm.
