Method

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a slow cooker, place the pork shoulder. Season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic.

  2. 2

    Add Liquid

Pour the apple cider vinegar and barbecue sauce over the pork. Make sure the pork is well coated.

  3. 3

    Slow Cook

Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and shreds easily with a fork.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.

Coleslaw Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Finely shred the green cabbage and grate the carrot. Place them in a large bowl.

  2. 6

    Make the Dressing

In a separate bowl, mix together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  3. 7

    Combine

Pour the dressing over the shredded cabbage and carrot. Toss to combine and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Sandwich

On each toasted bun, pile a generous portion of pulled pork followed by a scoop of coleslaw.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while warm, with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired.
