Method

Preparing the Pork

  1. 1

    Season the Pork

In a small bowl, mix together paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour chicken broth around the pork, then cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily falls apart.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Using two forks, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with BBQ sauce. Allow it to heat through for about 15 minutes.

Preparing the Sides

  1. 4

    Make Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix with your favorite dressing. Toss until the cabbage and carrots are well coated. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

  2. 5

    Prepare Cornbread

Bake cornbread according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing.

  3. 6

    Arrange Pickles

Place pickles in a small serving dish for an easy side option.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

On a large platter, arrange the shredded pulled pork in the center. Surround with coleslaw, slices of cornbread, and pickles. Serve warm and enjoy!
