Method
Preparation of Pickles
- 1
Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Batter Preparation
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick but pourable.
Frying the Pickles
- 4
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 6
Carefully place the battered pickle slices into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Once cooked, remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 8
Serve the crispy fried pickles hot with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
