Method

Preparation of Vegetables

  1. 1

    Chop the Cabbage

Remove the outer leaves of the green and red cabbage, then cut them into quarters. Use a sharp knife to slice the quarters into thin strips until you have 4 cups of shredded green cabbage and 1 cup of shredded red cabbage.

  2. 2

    Grate the Carrot

Peel the carrot and then use a box grater or a food processor to grate it until you have 1 cup of grated carrot.

  3. 3

    Slice the Green Onions

Trim the roots of the green onion and slice them thinly, including the green tops. Set aside.

Preparation of Dressing

  1. 4

    Mix the Dressing Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, and celery seed. Whisk together until smooth and well blended.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 5

    Combine Vegetables and Dressing

Add the shredded green cabbage, shredded red cabbage, grated carrot, and sliced green onion to the bowl with the dressing. Gently toss everything together using tongs or a large spoon until all the vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 6

    Chill the Coleslaw

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together.

  2. 7

    Serve

After chilling, give the coleslaw a good stir and serve as a side dish or topping for sandwiches and burgers.
