Method

Chips Preparation

  1. 1

    Cutting the Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into 6 equal wedges to create triangular chips.

  2. 2

    Heating the Oil

In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Frying the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla wedges in batches to the hot oil. Fry them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  4. 4

    Draining the Chips

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.

Salsa Preparation

  1. 5

    Chopping the Ingredients

Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeño pepper. Ensure to remove the seeds from the jalapeño if you prefer less heat.

  2. 6

    Mixing the Salsa

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Adding Seasoning

Add lime juice and salt to the vegetable mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

  4. 8

    Chilling the Salsa

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld.
